    1. PRE-TRIP PLANNING

    2. BEHIND THE SCENES WORK
      • Check the area and industry standards for leading the trip
      • Budget check? Do you have sufficient funds to run the trip.
      • Conduct a dry run of the schedule on paper
      • Write down all medical alerts (bees, etc.)
      • Review the experience of participants
      • Select the rescue gear that would be appropriate for the activity
      • Special equipment needs
      • First aid supplies - Is there a need for special medical equipment (bees, etc.)
      • Develop the risk Management Plan - check phone numbers
      • Re-check field conditions via phone or Internet (trail hazards, CFS, etc.)
      • Stay current on the weather forecast
      • Confirm transportation - meeting times and places
      • Make a courtesy call to land management agency
      • File paperwork on travel plans- emergency procedures- phone contacts-etc. . . .
      • Confirm the trip with the shuttle driver

    3. THE FINAL TRIP CHECK (Last Pre-trip meeting)
      • Equipment check when it is necessary
      • Discussion of weather
      • Review the trip schedule (day to day)
      • Minimum impact camping practices
      • Review: Place to meet, transportation, clothes to wear, food to eat en-route.

    4. THE FIELD TRIP
      • DECISIONS are made in favor of the group and safety
