BEWET stands for having fun on and off the river! Or, it stands for Boeing Employee Whitewater & Touring
-
Nope! Any member can get involved and help the club run!
-
All BEWET members are invited on every member trip. Members can bring guests as long as they par for an additional spot. Knowing how to swim is helpful, but not a must. Participants should be in decent physical health, but need not be super fit. Some parts of the trip may be more physically involved than other. Reach out to a guide or trip lead if you have more questions of concerns.

Rafting Trip Specific Questions
-
It depends on the river and flow, but typically, trips take 3-4 hours once we get on the water. There is some time set aside for setup and breakdown before and after the river, which is not included in the 3-4 hours.
-
The trip packet is usually sent out a few days before the trip. It has details like when and where to meet, where camping is, what to bring, etc. If you can’t wait until then, you can get an idea of where the town is from the signup page. If you still need more information, reach out to the trip lead.
-
Camping gear and a pot luck item (if camping), clothes for on the river and after the river, a lunch, lots of stoke and jokes!
-
DO NOT WEAR COTTON.
What to wear highly depends on the weather, but in general, wetsuits are recommend on most rivers—even in the summer! If you get cold easily, look into renting a wet suit. In general, synthetic athletic material work well. On HOT summer days, some members wear a swimsuit. Be Cautious: all of the rivers in the PNW are snow melt, so they are still VERY COLD!
-
The rivers in the PNW are mostly from snowpack or glacier melt and can be as low as 40 degrees F. A wetsuit is usually fine on a hot sunny day, but the water is still cold! A drysuit is recommended on cloudy cooler days. The layers underneath a drysuit are what keep you warm.
There are many places around the greater Seattle area who rent wetsuits. We recommend NWOC, Kayak Academy, or any place that is convenient for you
-
Camping is optional, but included in every weekend trip. We highly recommend camping to learn more about BEWET and get to know more members! There have been many lifelong friends made in BEWET.
-
BEWET does NOT provide camping gear. Gearhouse (in Seattle) or REI are good places to checkout for camping gear rental. Places to purchase good quality camping gear include REI, Wonderland Gear Exchange, and many other retail stores.
-
Of course! Sign them up by adding another “ticket” to your cart and fill out the checkout form with their information.
-
BEWET does organize a shuttle for all participants. This requires lots of coordination and is organized on the day of the trip, so please be patient and listen to all instructions carefully!
-
Each boat can hold ~ 6 people. To ensure that you are in the same boat, be sure to put that information in the checkout form!
-
Potluck - a meal or party to which each of the guests contributes a dish
-
Everyone is on their own for breakfast. But, we would welcome someone bringing muffins!
